DTF Maker frequently asked questions

Practical answers to help you choose a tool and prepare your file.

How can I remove a color without leaving semitransparency?

Upload your image to the editor and enable Color Removal. Choose the color and adjust tolerance and edge cutout. Cleanup stays active in preview and export, leaving fully transparent or fully opaque pixels. Check edges on light and dark backgrounds before downloading.

Which formats can I upload and download?

Upload PNG, JPEG or WebP artwork. The editor exports PNG to preserve transparency. The vectorizer exports SVG with real paths and a PNG without semitransparency. JPEG does not preserve transparent areas.

Should I upscale or vectorize my artwork?

Upscale a pixel image such as an illustration or photograph to enlarge it. Vectorize logos and illustrations to turn their outlines into scalable shapes. Review lettering and fine details; neither tool guarantees recovery of information missing from the reference.

Why do white details disappear when I remove a white background?

Color removal applies throughout the artwork, including interior details of the same color. Reduce tolerance and check the preview. Cropping reduces the area being processed but does not automatically distinguish a white background from a white detail you want to keep.

How do I check whether my artwork has enough resolution?

Upload it to DTF Scanner and enter your intended physical print dimensions. The estimate relates available pixels to those dimensions. Increasing the physical size reduces effective resolution; confirm the required resolution and minimum detail with your print provider.

Can I automatically extract a print from a T-shirt photo?

You can crop the print area and vectorize a simple reference. Automatic AI extraction and reconstruction are not available yet. Cropping alone does not correct folds, perspective or hidden parts of a design.

Where are my images processed?

The editor and DTF Scanner work in your browser. The vectorizer sends the reference to the DTF Maker server for tracing. The upscaler sends the image to Bigjpg. The privacy policy also explains account data and browser storage.

Do I need an account?

You can use the editor, DTF Scanner and vectorizer without signing in. Upscaling is subject to availability and site quotas. Signing in does not remove limits or automatically activate a paid plan.

Is the white mask the same as the printer’s white underbase?

The editor can create a separate white-mask PNG. It is a preparation aid rather than a white-ink channel or RIP separation. Use it when requested by your print provider and confirm how they want to receive it.

What if upscaling fails or takes too long?

Check that your PNG, JPEG or WebP file is up to 8 MB. If a task has started, keep the page and recover the pending task before creating another. Report the displayed message, file dimensions and format to support.

Can I use the results in commercial work?

That depends on the rights attached to your source image. Processing it in DTF Maker does not grant rights to third-party trademarks, characters, photos or designs. Review the source material’s license and your client’s requirements.
